Are you working on complex challenges and looking for:
new models of innovation that catalyse systemic change…
ways of accelerating learning about how to change the world in the context of urgency, diversity and radical uncertainty…
Join us for Lab Stories - a series of online meetings with practitioners of various novel systemic & participatory approaches - also known as Social Laboratories or Innovation Laboratories (Labs). In an informal conversation, we inquire deeper into the practice, ask provocative questions and seek lessons and inspiration for our own work.
In July our guest Inna Chilik will offer an insight into Deep Demonstrations - large-scale projects that offer ‘systems innovation as a service’ model to Europe’s most ambitious ‘challenge owners’ – i.e. the mayors, government ministries, industries and community leaders, and funders who have the means and mandate to tackle Europe’s biggest climate change challenges.
A concerted, multi-stakeholder, multi-scale, multi-platform approach is required, and a diversity of innovation initiatives spread across geographies, contexts, stakeholders, levels of risk, intervention points, and levers of change are all part of Climate-KIC’s approach. Learning is central to this, creating opportunities for sensemaking about how systems change is catalysed through innovation and ultimately creating the conditions for exponential decarbonisation and resilience-building.
Through the stories of Deep Demonstrations in Rybnik, Gipuzkoa province, Port Piraeus & Moldova ecosystem we will:
Explore why a systemic approach to accelerating climate action through innovation is required
Reflect on various elements and steps of a systems innovation method and process
Discuss ideas on how can systems innovation look in practice and what challenges we encounter on the way
“Deep demonstrations are intended as inspirational examples of what is possible in cities, sectors, countries and value chains when innovation is orchestrated, collaborative, mission-oriented and demand-led. They represent the ‘growth edge’ of our strategy for tackling climate change through innovation.”
- Kirsten Dunlop, CEO of EIT Climate-KIC
